WORLDS 2006 IFMAR BUGGY APPROVED WING FROM HIMOTO RACING:

What would an event like the World Championships be without a little controversy.

A new 1/8 off road buggy new style wing from Himoto Racing has been found and debates on whether it will become legal. Well, the job of the IFMAR Jury is to evaluate these things, and make that decision. After checking and fair evaluation, this new wing is being approved legal by IFMAR.

Himoto wing

At the very first day at Jakarta in the last Ifmar World Championships the Race Director call the members of the International Jury due to the existence of a peculiar wing, the Himoto one. Later on we discovered that it was not only the Himoto but one of the Proline brand as well.

The main diference with the standart ones is the different width at different points of it being wider at both sides than in the center of it. We studied the wing and the IFMAR rules, which are the same as the EFRA ones. And we (all) concluded that the wing was according to the rules.

This newly designed and manufacturered 1/8th scale wing was introduced at this years 1/8 offroad world championships in Indonesia and took the world by storm. Many drivers used this wing in their bid for the top title.

Controversy surrounded it's use and whether IFMAR would make it legal for racing.
But it has passed their inspections and now is officially legal in Internationally sanctioned racing events.
